Project goals
The "EduMento" project focuses on the development of a multilingual online training course for mentors who provide practical guidance to mentees in schools. On the one hand, the online training is intended to train teachers with a mentoring function in Europe and offer them support in the mentoring process. On the other hand, it serves the target group of mentees, as they can work together professionally with their mentors using the app developed for this purpose.
Target groups
Mentors
- Teachers who supervise prospective teachers
- Colleagues in supervision
- ...
Mentees
- Prospective teachers (e.g., during internships, practical phases during teacher training)
- Young teachers
- ...
Project plan
The EduMento project is to be implemented over a period of three years from November 1st, 2023. After the design phase, the results will be tested at the partner schools and then disseminated.
Phase 1: Conceptual development
A training course and associated tools for planning and observing lessons are being developed for mentors in teacher training. The training and tools are to be made available via a free app.
The Training is made available via a multilingual Moodle course. The course content includes the basics of the following topics:
- Teaching - e.g., "What is good teaching?"
- Assessing and advising - e.g., "How can mentors organize reflective discussions on lessons?"
- Cooperation - e.g., "What are the conditions for success in a mentor-mentee relationship?"
- Education - e.g., "How can classroom disruptions be prevented?"
- Professionalization - e.g., "What significance does theory have in teaching practice?"
- Teachers' health - e.g., "What support systems are there?"
The Tools are divided into the following components:
- Analysis sheets for analyzing your own teaching, taking quality features into account
- Observation assignments for analyzing other teachers' lessons
- Digital tool for lesson planning
Phase 2: Testing and revision
During meetings at the participating schools, results from Phase 1 are tested in the classroom and revised afterwards.
Four to five meetings are planned at the participating partner schools. The first meeting will take place from 13.-15. November 2024 at Deutsche Schule Rom.
Phase 3: Dissemination
The project results are disseminated through teacher training courses, scientific publications and conference contributions.
As soon as possible, we will inform you here about training dates, access to the app and freely available materials.
